CHINATOWN WAITING ROOM, Kelsey Ige, Third Place.
(Nikon 35mm film)
*Wins a two-night stay and breakfast in an ocean-view room at the Waikiki Parc Hotel
“We always view Chinatown from the outside. Customers move through the marketplace and deal with vendors strictly at a business level. The vendors give Chinatown its character and they have become fixtures of the community. It is rare to get a glimpse of pure human emotion in such an environment. This young boy is the son of a market vendor.”

UNDER, Christopher Rohrer, Second Place.
(4×5 Pinhole Camera)
*Wins a two-night stay and breakfast in an ocean-view room at the Halekulani.
“I like the simplicity of the pinhole camera. Its long exposure time forces you to sit back and enjoy the scenery [under the Makai Research pier near Sea Life Park]. This shot took about 45 minutes, which was spent hanging out with a good friend.”

ERK’S COUCH, Jacy L. Youn, First Place.
(Nikon D50)
*Wins a two-night stay and meals in an ocean-view room at the Halekulani.
“This photo, shot a few dozen feet from the base of Diamond Head, is in stark contrast to the stunning view from atop the crater. This, to me, is the real, hidden Honolulu.”
