Tango and Dash

Lei Chic Sunday – Finally, a chance to try that new recipe. The first bite sends flavors dancing across your tastebuds.
Tuesday – Still good, but you toss in some salsa to liven up your leftovers.
Friday – The jig is up. You can barely look at your plate as you trot out a sixth day of the same-old same-old. You desperately need a new taste to get you back into a rhythm again.

Perfect timing for the Tango Market. The new spot is opening this afternoon just across the street from its sister restaurant, Tango Contemporary Cafe. The idea is simple: to offer the same delicious fare at a faster pace.

So there's no sit-down service at the market. Step up to the counter and swing one of Chef Goran Streng's specialties:  European waffles and pastries for breakfast;  paninis, salads, and chicken or anchovy (a Finnish dish) pot pies for lunch.

That's not all. For the first time you can get Tango's signature dishes sold by the pound. Gourmet grab-and-go includes duck confit, braised chicken, or the famed gravlax, a cured salmon usually used in Scandanavian cuisine. Or pick up newly bottled versions of Streng's homemade dressings and sauces guaranteed to jazz up your home-cooked meal.

And before you go how about a cup of the cafe's distinctive coffee?  Or what owner Tami Orozco promises will be a real old-fashioned malted milkshake?

Giving you a gourmet-on-the-run reason to kick up your meals.

Tango Market is located in the storefronts of Ward Center right next to Borders at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd. It is open from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
