Taco Tuesday's at Pablo's

I stopped by Pablo’s Cantina last Tuesday to check out its Taco Tuesday promotion at Ward Centre. Every Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., a taco bar is set up on its open lanai and you can purchase $1 ground beef or shredded chicken tacos, or $2 marinated pork or carnitas tacos.

I arrived hungry about 15 minutes before closing, just in time to stack a plate full of tacos and find a seat next to the bar. Pablo’s opened about two months ago, in the old Compadre’s Bar and Grill space, which closed down in 2008—its sign still hanging above the bar.

Surprisingly, Pablo’s was crowded for a Tuesday night with a college-aged crowd of people chatting among friends and drinking pitchers of margaritas ($17) and coronas ($3). DJ Billy G was also on-hand to spin Top 40 and ´80s music. All of the tacos were tasty, but the $1 beef tacos were my favorite—juicy, flavorful and addicting. I will be going back for more.
