Sweeping views at Keola Lai
Since I first profiled a condo at Keola Lai in Kakaako last May, I’ve been smitten with the views from its units. Sure, there are some spectacular views to be had at many spots throughout the city, but what I like about this building’s views is that they give such a broad sweep of the city and ocean.
This three-bedroom, two-bath condo, located on the 32nd floor, features floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area and master bedroom to really take advantage of those views.
The 1,402-square-foot unit has been upgraded with cherry wood cabinets, granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen. The eight-and-a-half-foot ceilings are a nice touch. Sometimes I feel a little boxed-in in other buildings' units because of a lower ceiling, despite the views.
For those looking to move out of a single family house and simplify their home maintenance duties, this condo offers several amenities includuing 24-hour security, barbecue and picnic areas, a heated pool and whirlpool, and a fitness center. The maintenance fee ($1,019 a month) includes cable TV, broadband Internet, sewer and water.
“This is a great home for downsizers,” says Leanne Kwock of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. With a 78 percent owner occupancy, it’s clear many find Keola Lai a comfortable place to call home.
There are 350 units in the 43-floor condo, and currently, there’s only one other three-bedroom unit for sale in the building at a much higher price point.
Fuzz factor: Pets are allowed, but if you have a large pooch, he needs to be less than 60 pounds.
The price includes two covered parking stalls, and there’s plenty of guest parking conveniently located across from the lobby.
