Somace's coastal-inspired spring arrivals
Pillow Talk

Ah, the first day of spring. Take a deep breath and get ready to usher in a glorious season of:
Cleaning. Ick. Taxes. Ugh. Brackets. Yawn.
Okay, you may not be March Mad(ness) about spring, but Somace's coastal-inspired spring pillow collection should warm you and your home right up.
We first caught wind of the new designs while interviewing designer Kaypee Soh for our Best of HONOLULU 2013 issue. Now, the collection's landed in store, fresh and ready to set sale.
As promised, it features three vivid colorways: midnight (indigo and teal), honeysuckle (orange and red) and emerald green (mixed with aqua), a tribute to Pantone's color of the year.
Don't expect the usual florals and sea creatures. This season, Soh's motif is more nautical than beachy with custom prints that showcase anchors and sailor's knots. Sharks and whales are punched into bold, geometric patterns, focusing more on shape than animal. And his take on peacock feathers and chevron exudes a surprisingly exotic, retro vibe.
To play off the collection, the store is also venturing into uncharted territory: bags. Roomy cotton and jute bucket bags are now on board with sea-faring red and blue stripes, drawstring tops and sturdy rope handles – perfect for the beach or just totally chic storage.
It's a great way to cruise into spring's colorful styles.
Because you clearly run a bright ship.
