Snow!

Big Island-based photographer Kirk Lee Aeder shot this image in February 2008 of Scott Wolf enjoying a snowfall atop Mauna Kea. At 14,000 feet, the “camera can freeze up, but when all the conditions come together, it’s magic up there,” says Aeder. “Will I go back up this winter? You bet. There’s great photography that can be had up there, not just of snowboarding or skiing, but the beautiful scenery. Snow in Hawaii? It sounds so unusual, but is true. I’m drawn to it like a magnet.” Check out more of Aeder’s snow shots at kirkaederphoto.com.
