Snack Attacks

Lei ChicIt starts with leftover Halloween candy and ends with sugar-loaded cocktails and canapés sometime after midnight. Welcome to the start of your Season’s Eatings.

The only workout that fits in your busy holiday schedule is bicep curls with your Black Friday buys. So you have to count on watching your calories, something you swear requires a calculus degree (how much is a half-piece of chocolate haupia pie WITHOUT most of the crust but WITH a small scoop of low-fat ice cream?)

You need an easy-to-follow plan that takes the guesswork out of mealtime. Boot Camp Hawaii is stepping up to your plate with its holiday eating workshops.

The five Sunday sessions pick up this week when Boot Camp Hawaii owner and Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach Emily Boll draws up a seven-day menu to kickstart your metabolism into high gear through Thanksgiving. You won’t have to fast when Boll shows you the easy dos and don’ts of dining out even in the drive through. Learn simple ways to dessert that tempting junk food area at the office, then it’s the sweet life with a hands-on workshop to lighter treats with Contemporary Museum Café Chef Scott Sakaguchi.

Participants can sign up for the whole series for $99 or just drop in on one class for $25.

So you have no reason to weight.

Sometimes it is better to put your money where your mouth is.

Boot Camp Hawaii’s workshops are 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. on various Sundays. The cooking class, however, is at 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 4. Sign up on Boot Camp Hawaii’s website.
