You’ve been on the road hunting for the perfect hostess gift for ages, and it's beginning to drive you crazy.

Time for a pit stop. Instead of picking products from miles away, stay close to home with Shaka Street Soap Works’ homemade soaps in darling packages. Complete with eco-friendly boxes and rustic twine, and finished off with a colorful, scented wax seal (the scents match the soaps, by the way), these perfect gifts come in tropical plumeria, sugar cane, lavender, vanilla and passion fruit. And talk about street smart: The soaps are made with environmentally friendly oils (such as coconut and olive) and cocoa butter to a produce a luxurious, creamy feel.

Whipped up by Maui-based Lisa Lareau, former social work student and current mom-trepreneur, Shaka Street Soap Works began as nothing more than a DIY hobby. Now, you can find her precious-looking soaps—which are all made in small batches and by hand using the high quality, high-control cold process—in boutiques all over Honolulu. The latest retailer to hop on the bandwagon? None other than retail giant and master-of-all-things-adorable Anthropologie, which will be opening this week in Ala Moana Center. Grab some for gifts (who doesn’t love the rich smell of Tahitian vanilla), but make sure you also snag one for yourself before you hit the road.
