Sacs in the City

One of the bags you could bid on is the Tory Burch gold metallic Dean Oversized Hobo.

Four hundred and fifty people are expected to attend Sacs in the City next weekend, and bid on the auctions’ hottest item—women’s handbags. This 7th annual fundraising event for The Junior League of Honolulu is the only event in Hawaii dedicated to handbags.

Roughly 70 bags will be up for auction, including Fendi, Gucci, Coach, Anteprima, and one-of-a-kind finds. “Some of the bags are donated by fashion houses or stores. But, some are exclusive bags that are so popular that they are sold out and cannot be found anywhere else,” says Ashley Wang, co-chair for Sacs in the City and member of the Junior League of Honolulu.

For those of you who already have too many bags to count, other items will be up for auction as well, including: services by Paul Brown Salons, Hawaii Theatre, the Hilton Hawaiian Village, a stay at the Halekulani hotel with dinner, and a Lululemon yoga starter package.

Enjoy a lunch of baby spinach and frisee salad, dry-roast short ribs with tomato romesco and mocha cheesecake for dessert, while watching a Tory Burch Spring 2011 collection fashion show. Though Wang says that this event has more men in attendance each year, the event is definitely one my girlfriends and I are squealing about.

$85 tickets, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 5, Hilton Hawaiian Village. Tickets will still be available for sale until March 2. To purchase individual seats, or a table, call 538-8883.
