Renovated condo in Salt Lake

When I heard about this listing last week, I wanted to write about it but I had already mapped out my week, so I made sure to put it at the top of my list for today.

Located in the Holiday Lakeview condominium in Salt Lake, this affordable two-bedroom, one-bathroom unit has generated a lot of excitement since it listed eight days ago.

Realtor Khai Tran of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties told me about 35 groups came to check it out yesterday at its first open house. No offers yet, but he expects he’ll see some very soon. Click here for details.

Completely gutted and renovated last year, the owner spent more than $20,000 in quality upgrades. In the kitchen, he installed granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, including a five-burner gas stove – my favorite! If you’re an avid cook, you know how much better it is using a gas stovetop versus electric.

“The owner went the extra mile when it came to renovations,” says Tran. “Even down to the upgraded switches and outlets, he wanted everything to be brand-new.”

The bathroom’s makeover included a new vanity and countertop, along with new tiling, a bathtub and a toilet.

Aside from the revamp, what’s nice about the 700-square-foot condo is that the living room boasts sweeping views of the Honolulu Country Club from its 14th floor perch.

“In Salt Lake, a lot of the buildings have views of other buildings,” says Tran. “It’s rare that the view is a panoramic one of the golf course. Since it’s across the street from the country club that won’t change.”

Tran also pointed out for a condo its size, it’s unusual to find two parking stalls – one covered, one not.

Just a few blocks away from the Salt Lake Shopping Center, you’ll be able to easily run errands at the bank, Longs or Safeway. The shopping center also includes Soon’s Kal-Bi, a Korean barbecue takeout joint that’s been in that spot for more than 20 years – a debate on Yelp continues as to whether it’s serves up the island’s best meat jhun.

If you’d like to see it for yourself, there’ll be a broker’s open house (it’s open to the public) Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. It will also be open on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m.
