Refined Sugar
About five seconds after your 30th birthday candles were snuffed, you decided that things really do get better with age. After all, you’d take Sophia Loren’s sophistication any day over Paris Hilton’s . . . whatever it is.
Sugarcane boutique’s owner Faith Scheiblich couldn’t agree more. Her homey new Kaimuki boutique is outfitted with carefully selected consignment items that have the kind of character only time can bring.
Take the vintage tin sand pails. Brightly painted and beautifully worn, you can practically smell the salt tang of the beach in the air. Or the retro, worn-in, keiki-size chairs – if those pieces could talk, you know they’d have amazing stories.
Funky and fun, Sugarcane’s cozy little space is filled with furniture, home accents and consignment clothing alongside a few new products. New or old though, all items are conservation-minded. Locally-made duds from Blue Geisha, which makes contemporary styles from vintage mu‘umu‘us, hang next to gently used pieces from Free People, Ella Moss and Velvet.
Sounds like a new addition to your list of old favorites.
Sugarcane boutique is at 1137 11th Ave #101 in Kaimuki. 808.739.2263.
