He had us on our toes every week watching him compete (and kick some serious ass) on the Project Runway All Stars 2016 season. We sat tight anticipating what wow-factor piece he would create for every weekly challenge and saw him rule the runway with his Prince of Prints ensemble. Well, now that that’s over, Kini Zamora is back home and has us on the edge of our seats again! His 2016 fall collection is dropping next week, and it will not disappoint.

The designer went in the opposite direction from fall’s dreary hues, and from his usually minimal, neutral color palette. The surprising, colorful collection was inspired by a trio of cool influences: Piet Mondrian’s abstract art pieces, Tetris and The Breakfast Club. “Being on Project Runway All Stars opened my eyes to using color this season,” says Zamora. “I also played around with dramatic cuts and voluminous silhouettes that are still wearable.”

The new line includes body-hugging pencil skirts, swingy shift dresses and dramatic wide-legged pants. Guys will appreciate the tailored athleisure jogger pants, color-blocked wide-neck tees and a lightweight, wool trench coat. Made of rayon, lycra and shirtings (a fine cotton), each piece moves with you and compliments all body types. Our favorite? The long-sleeve swim top that can be worn at the beach and at the bar, and the high-slit, cascading-ruffle, painted-strokes skirt that is a definite work of art!

Kini’s fall 2016 collection debuts online on July 18, kinizamora.com.
