Print-packed apparel from Maui-based BoxEleven reaches Oahu
Ocean's (Box)Eleven

Love that hit film about a ruggedly handsome parolee who gathers a wild crew to infiltrate some Vegas casinos? Yeah, us too. Which is why we're super-excited for the sequel: BoxEleven, about a fashion designer who gathers wild prints to infiltrate some Oahu boutiques.
Okay, so this Maui line's apparel collection isn't actually connected to the George Clooney blockbuster. But the fact remains, you won't want to miss its Oahu premiere.
Designer and University of Hawaii Maui College Fashion Technology graduate Katie Browne has been churning out comfy, print-packed women's apparel from her Haiku studio since 2009; a vibrant mix of soft, stretchy knits and vintage woven cotton expertly sewn into throw-on-and-go dresses, tops and shorts. And while they've been available in several neighbor island and online boutiques (including her own website), Browne's never sold them in Honolulu… until now.
Head to Global Village in Kailua on Wednesday night and you'll find a slew of hot numbers: figure-flattering skater and maxi dresses with keyhole backs and flared, slightly asymmetrical skirts, circle tanks edged with contrasting bindings and lace pocket tops made with carefully selected thrifted fabrics. You'll also get to meet and mingle with Browne herself. Our suggestion? Ask how she comes up with unique print and color combos, like rust and burgundy stripes, black seagulls, or busy florals in soft pinks and purples. Hint: It involves an art degree, an obsession with patterns and the use of at least three different fabrics in each piece.
Sadly, the party doesn't include Brad Pitt or duffel bags full of cash (sorry!).
But you can still walk out looking like a million bucks.
BoxEleven is available on Oahu at Global Village, 539 Kailua Rd., and Cottage by the Sea, Ward Warehouse. Bags and wallets are available at Owens & Co.. For more information on BoxEleven, click here.
