Preview: The Standard Nightclub at Restaurant Row

In August, I wrote about a new restaurant, nightclub and lounge set to open in October 2011 called Tower 10.

Well, between that time and four months later, Tower 10 has been renamed to The Standard, and the concept has changed from a “modern Pacific” theme to an art, fashion, and nightlife mecca that’s supposed to be similar to clubs in LA, Vegas and New York.

In my mind, putting a name like The Standard on a nightclub in Hawaii is bold, because I immediately think of The Standard Hotel chains on the Mainland, which is known for its bars and nightlife. Ever hear of the Boom Boom Room? It was located at the top of the Standard Hotel in New York City.  Now called the Top of the Standard, it remains to me to be one of the most exclusive nightlife spots in that city.

As for The Standard at Restaurant Row, I will see tonight if it lives up to the name. Get a first look tonight as it opens to the public at 5:30 p.m. for a Nextworking professional event. Review to follow.
