Portlock estate is like a mini-resort

Portlock is an old neighborhood, but recently, there’s been a lot of change and development to create larger lots and newer homes.
“Very recently, three large pieces of property there have been demolished for ocean estates, consolidating lots to make street-to-ocean properties,” says realtor Julianna Garris of Choi International. “We haven’t seen this kind of activity in about 15 years.”

Her listing at 492 Portlock Rd. is one such property, the largest on the market in the area. It sits on 28,446 square feet of land—more than half an acre—in a gated lot that’s so spacious, it’s touted as “a private, boutique resort.” (Click here for details.)

The home itself is just 2,598 square feet with almost 1,000 square feet of lanai. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, which includes maid’s quarters. It was built in 1953, but there have been upgrades to give it a modern look, such as stone and hardwood flooring, new cabinets and counters in the kitchen and bathrooms, an outdoor shower, and privacy wall.

You don’t really have to leave to workout if you use the private tennis court or pool. The big feature for this home, however, is the beach access; people in this neighborhood like the option of swimming and boating.
We’ll be looking at the other developments in Portlock next week, with some insights from the neighbors. Stay tuned.
