Pied a terre in Palolo

I don’t know why, but I always think of Palolo as having older homes, the kind that get passed down from generation to generation, with few variations in design. This new listing, however, is different in various ways. (Click here for details.)

When you walk in to the lower-level apartment, which can be rented out, you’ll find super-high ceilings, which make it seem a little more spacious. It was renovated in 2010 with a unique European design, right down to the fixtures in the bathroom. It’s tiny, but there’s enough space for a wet bar, with stainless steel refrigerator and dishwasher.

The main home is upstairs with three bedrooms and one full bathroom, plus two bonus rooms that can be used for storage or as an art studio. It has a very open floor plan with newer appliances, new paint, and wood laminate flooring.

The large, 5,440-square-foot terraced lot has enough yard space for a nice garden, since both levels of the home comprise 1,184 square feet of living area. There’s also a view deck and views of Diamond Head, which is a plus.

“Also, it is one of the few homes in Palolo that is in the much-desired, top-rated Hokulani Elementary School District,” says realtor Yvonne Ahearn.
She adds that, when the upstairs was rented previously, they rented all four rooms as bedrooms and earned a total rent of approximately $2,300, excluding utilities, which were paid by the tenants.
