Pearl Jam

You’ve always loved taking quizzes. You even have a No. 2 pencil at the ready just in case they start giving out Scantrons to adults. Is white chocolate really chocolate? No. Is Rafael having a half-off sale? Yes.
Is a black pearl like a fine wine?
Stumped? What better way to educate yourself then at a unique pau hana pearl tasting event with complimentary wine tasting, pupus, and dessert?
Tonight, the dynamic women’s networking group Social Wahines hosts their first co-ed pearl tasting, where former fine wine distributor Ke Kai Kealoha, now a partner of 3 Pearls International, will share a glowing collection of Micronesian hand-crafted black and freshwater pearls.
As you taste (the wine) and compare (the pearls), Kealoha will share her wisdom, such as how each are subtly influenced by the environment and how wine maker and pearl grafter expertise affects quality. Later you can network and bid on easy holiday gifts, like restaurant and spa certificates, at the silent auction benefiting SCORE Hawai‘i, a free small business counseling service.
By the end of the night, you’ll know a currant nose from a berry finish, and a real pearl from an imposter. Go on, give yourself an A+.
Tonight from 6 -9 p.m. at Accents Honolulu, IBM Building, 1240 Ala Moana Blvd. Cover charge $10. RSVP to: danielle@socialwahines.com
