Pas De Deux Hawaii Grand Opening (Sponsored)
News Bulletin: Something big has moved into Waipio. People near Starbucks report hearing nonstop music and rhythmic steps punctuated by joyful cheers and laughing. This weekend, you can join in on the fun fueled by a little star power.
Pas De Deux celebrates the grand opening of its new location Sunday. The performing arts studio, recently named “Best Place to Dance” by HONOLULU Family, is now triple the size of the previous Waipahu space with three classrooms, two vocal rooms with a recording studio and a dancewear boutique. Owner Wendy Calio, known for her role as Nina on Disney’s Imagination Movers, and her talented staff know how to make every child feel special. You’ll find that special touch at the grand opening.
Kids can walk the red carpet and pose for their own “celebrity” portrait. Then tour the beautiful new facilities before enjoying performances by students and teachers of classes ranging from ballet to hip hop, breakdancing to hula, musical theatre, acting and voice. Little ones can groove in the kids’ disco room, pick up a balloon animal, a face painting and stop for a snack at keiki-favorite food trucks such as Kona Ice and Local Stop. Proceeds from food sales will go to fund scholarships for Pas De Deux students.
To add to the excitement, another Disney star will make her Hawaii debut at the celebration. Genevieve Goings, from Disney Junior’s Choo Choo Soul and a close friend of Calio’s, will perform three live show through the weekend. For $15, fans can sing along with their favorite Choo Choo Soul songs, get on their feet and catch the latest Pas De Deux breakdancing troop in this high energy, interactive show. Then they’ll have a special chance to meet their favorite star in person. (HONOLULU Family Tip: Get your tickets online now, the Sunday show is already sold out!)
“Genevieve is an amazing person and a great role model for a lot of young artists,” Calio says. “She knows how to make people around her feel good about themselves and want to work with her. She is a great example of how you can be humble and be a good person and succeed.”
And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned to Pas De Deux’s Facebook page for more exciting news, such as tv and film auditions for a new, local kids project you’ll want to be a part of.
