A picture perfect party idea for kids.

Let creative kids have messy fun at an art party. We took the colorful fun out to a park for easy cleanup (use water-based paint) for this splashy, colorful birthday bash.

Décor

Break out the markers, colored pencils and paint. Roll out white craft paper for the kids to turn into a festive tablecloth and set up canvas and easels all over the lawn.

Personalize cheerful kiddie aprons or hand out white T-shirts so partygoers can paint their own keepsakes. Add mini watercolors strung on colorful embroidery thread as necklaces or attached to split rings as an artsy keychain. Toss in a few brushes, scented markers or even multihued sidewalk chalk to keep the inspiration rolling once they leave.

It’s all about creativity and colors! Serve up rainbow fruit kabobs, a D.I.Y. sandwich or pizza bar with toppings in all hues, then let the keiki decorate their own palette-plated cupcake surrounded by sprinkles. As for drinks, let them mix up their own creations with drink powders that explode into color when you add water.

Mix it up!

Try a smoothie challenge. Kids pick frozen fruit then blend it with frozen yogurt. What color will it be?
