Pair for the Course

Lei Chic Incriminating Facebook photos. Lamentable texts to your ex. That YouTube video of you on the dance floor screaming “teach me how to Dougie!”

In your recent memory (err, somewhat fuzzy memory) liquor usually pairs best with regret.

Until now. Starting this Thursday, you’ll be able to pair liquor with something you’ll actually remember — an excellent meal. Apartment 3 is introducing a new monthly dinner, called appropriately, Munch. It’s an off-the-menu dinner collaboration between Apartment 3 Executive Chef Robert McGee and Better Brand’s head mixologist Joey Gottesman.

Each month’s dinner will spotlight a different type of liquor, and will include a three-course meal with an amuse bouche (a one-bite appetizer) and complementary cocktails — all designed to reflect the flavor profiles of that liquor. And unlike a wine pairing dinner, it promises to be remarkable without being stuffy.

This month’s liquor is rum, but don’t expect a standard rum-and-coke — think more along the lines of a rum and white pepper daiquiri, a tropical Zaya rum swizzle, and an Appleton buttered rum cocktail. The dishes will include things like a meyer lemon and rum-cured opah with a citrus aioli. And we heard rum-blings that the main course will most likely involve braised lamb shanks and sweet corn polenta.

There are limited seats and there’s only one seating at 6:30 p.m., so it’s a good idea to make your reservations early.

Innovative cocktails, OMG-worthy food, and a night you'll want to remember?
Sounds like pair-a-dise.
