Four summer events plus the details on our first HONOLULU Family Fun Run!


MAY 26 (Start Date)

50th State Fair 


Find your Fun Pass. The biggest fair of the year will deliver free shows and the ever-popular E.K. Fernandez rides, midway and carnival food. This year, the lineup of entertainment includes the Anastasini Circus, the Pork Chop Revue featuring Oink the singing pig and Hawai‘i Stars competitions. Remember, passes bought at the Punahou Carnival or any other E.K. Fernandez carnival can be used here. Plus, an additional 30 kiosks will be set up around the grounds to cut down the wait when you need to recharge your car.

JUNE 3

Habilitat Lū‘au, Auction & Benefit Concert

Bounce houses, face painting, caricatures, balloon animals, live entertainment and eight Hawaiian dishes are included in the ticket price for this annual fundraiser. Kids 5 years and younger are free.

JULY 1


Mō‘ili‘ili Summer Fest

A big bon dance is just part of this annual street festival near UH Mānoa. Free kids’ activities usually include Japanese headband making and a goldfish scooping game. Hit Coyne Street for free Wi-Fi and dozens of food options.

JULY 15

Midsummer’s Night Gleam


This popular, free, interactive event is back! The theme is “Night of a Thousand Stars,” so don Star Wars or galaxy-related costumes and enjoy music, jousting demonstrations, snacks, and arts and crafts. Kids’ activities end at 6:30 p.m.

AUGUST 5

Save the Date!


2017 HONOLULU Family Fun Run

How do you top a free event featuring the best food, fun and services O‘ahu offers? Give kids a place to run.

  • Saturday, Aug. 5, will be thefirst HONOLULU Family Fun Run. We’re planning a 500-meter dash for keiki and a 3K run for all ages with some unique, family-friendly touches along the way. Kids 3 to 10 years will receive a prize for finishing their run and will also be allowed to join their families for the 3K for no additional charge. That route will include selfie stops, snack stations, entertainment and lots of cheering to keep everyone going. 
  • Register your school and $3 from each designated entry will be donated to your campus. 
  • The finish line will take you right into our second Best of Honolulu Festival, presented by American Savings Bank, where you can enter our 2018 Cover Kids Search for free, play in the keiki fun zone, grab food from Best of HONOLULU Family winners and more.

Keiki Dash for 3- to 10-year-olds is $20, $25 after July 10. 3K is $25, $30 after July 10. Click here to register.
