Open House Picks of the Week: Ewa and Hawaii Kai

Interesting prices at opposite ends of Oahu.

I thought I’d show you two open house picks for this weekend because I thought the prices were really interesting for the areas represented. The first is in Hawaii Kai, which is known as a more expensive Oahu neighborhood, but this pick is priced at less than $500K. The other, in a complete switch, is in Ewa, with a price tag of $1.7 million.

This spacious one-bedroom, two-bath unit in The Commodore is 1,019 sq. ft. of living area, which is bigger than some single-family homes in Metro Honolulu, but it’s a cool find for other reasons, too.

For one thing, it’s got some nice ocean and marina views, since it was the last high-rise that built in Hawaii Kai back in 1982. (The zoning for the other developments cannot exceed a certain height limit in most areas.) The Commodore is regarded as ahead of its time, even now, with its high-end finishes, waterfall entry, huge heated pools with more waterfalls and a koi pond. I only just found out that the condo features a collection of more than 60 original art pieces by renowned local artists displayed in the hallways, private library, and other common areas.

Okay, this listing is actually two homes, but it’s still interesting as a property for Ewa Beach.

The other home is a one-bedroom, 1.5-bath, two-story cottage. There are two private entry gates, which is nice, but the purchase is one package under one TMK listing.

Bonus, especially for summer, the property has fruit trees: mango, papaya, banana, fig, lemon and avocado.
