Open house pick of the week: Waialae Gardens

Have you ever heard of Waialae Gardens? I had not, until now, because homes in this quiet little development are so rarely available.

Waialae Gardens is comprised of older townhomes and a six-story apartment building on 10 acres tucked away in Waialae Nui. It’s within walking distance to Kahala Mall, close to the bus line, and is convenient to the freeway in either direction. People who live there like that it’s a pet-friendly community, too.

This unit is in the high rise, a well-maintained, 624-square-foot one-bedroom residence. It’s on a low floor, but has a nice vantage point since it’s built into the foot of the hill, so you do get ocean and coastline views—as well as “treetop” views, as realtor Maile Hain describes it. Since it’s an older building, the price is at the lower end for residences in this area, making it a pretty good value. It’s worth a look, especially since it’s not often people can check it out.
