Open house pick of the week: St. Louis

One of my favorite places to have a weekend picnic lunch is at Waahila Ridge State Recreation Area. It’s at the tippy top of St. Louis Heights and feels like you’ve been transported off of Oahu into a lush pine forest reminiscent of New England. If I lived closer to the park, I’d probably find myself there every weekend.

This listing in St. Louis, which hit the market 10 days ago, would put me within a three-minute drive to it, but I’m afraid it’s a tad out of my price range.

This contemporary home, built in 1984 by a certified designer as her personal residence, includes two bedrooms and two baths in 2,524 square feet of living space.

With vaulted ceilings and a flowing design, the home is bright and airy on all levels. The spacious kitchen lends itself to entertaining with an island bar and seating. An open lanai off the living room is another place to host guests while they enjoy the sunset.

With more than 700 square feet in the master suite alone, you’ll have plenty of room to spread out also while taking in expansive city views.

On the lower level, an extra room would be great for a home office, or if you’re the creative type, maybe an art studio.

A backyard patio tucked under a tree on the 5,000-square-foot lot offers a relaxing space to enjoy a glass of wine. I could see myself there whiling away a Sunday afternoon reading a book.

You can spend your Sunday afternoon taking a look at this house. It’ll be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting! Click here for details.
