Open house pick of the week: St. Louis Heights

If a renowned kitchen and bath designer has a house built specifically to her personal preferences, you know it’s going to look classic and eclectic. Such is the case with Judy Dawson’s home on St. Louis Heights. (Click here for details.)

Dawson, an award-winning designer, built this home in 1984 and, after all these years, it looks as timeless as it is contemporary, inside and out. The 5,000-square-foot lot, midway off  Chaminade Terrace, gives enough space for a well-manicured yard and has sweeping sunset and city views.

Inside, the vaulted ceilings give a feeling of extra spaciousness in the 2,524-square-foot residence. As expected, the kitchen is artfully designed, with a lot of storage and counter space; it’s built for efficiency, but looks pretty.

There are two bedrooms and two distinctively designed bathrooms (of course). I don’t think Dawson has won awards for these bathrooms or the kitchen, but you probably can’t tell the difference—I know I can’t.

The lower level “bonus” room, as she likes to call it, is perfect for art studio, workshop or office, with a tranquil garden setting.

This home will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Happy house hunting!
