Open House Pick of the Week: Mililani Mauka
Island Classics home appeals to first-time homebuyers.

A while back, I did a blog series on the Pacheco family and their search to buy their first home. Since then, I’ve become acutely aware of the number of people who really want a home with a yard — any size — which is hard to find if you’re on a budget.
There are 16 open houses in Mililani this Sunday, but this one in Mauka caught my eye because it’s one of the newer ones, built in 2005, and even at first glance, you can tell it’s a pretty good value.
It’s a three bedroom, two bathroom, single-level Island Classics Model 1 home on a 5,592-sq. ft. lot (one of the biggest lots in the area). Since the home is 1,571 sq. ft., the rest is a huge, enclosed yard. If you have pets, this is great to have them run around in. Also, the home is very close to the dog park. The interior and exterior were recently painted, as well.
One thing that I didn’t know: the other Island Classics models are CPR, which means they are subject to $100 extra in maintenance fees, as one would for a condo. This home is not a CPR, so no fees.
The first open house will be this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Click here for more details.
Happy house hunting!
