Open house pick of the week: Ilikai

When Brandon Lau listed this Ilikai condo on Tuesday, he got five calls on it within the first four hours. He’s had so much interest, his open house is expected to be pretty busy this Sunday.

The location itself is ideal for people who want to be close to the water, close (but not too close) to Waikiki, and convenient to shopping and dining. This condo overlooks Duke Kahanamoku lagoon, so you also get a fireworks view.

Many of the units in the building have undergone complete renovations, including the removal of a shoji door separator that was part of the original design. However, many people don’t care for the new design, since that separator provided options for privacy or storage. This listing is only partially renovated, and they chose to leave the shoji door in.

This one-bedroom unit is one of nine currently available in the building and is priced at the lower end of the spectrum, despite being on a higher floor. It has 500 square feet of living area and a 120-square-foot lanai.

The building was built in 1965, but, as you can see, the partial renovations have made it look almost new again, with new flooring and paint. (Click here for details.)
The unit will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and you might want to head downstairs to the Chart House after openhouse is done. Just to, you know, see how convenient the place is.
Happy house hunting!
