Open House Pick of the Week: A Classic Home Close to Diamond Head
This home on a private lane offers extra space and ocean views.

At first glance—despite the fact that this home is on a huge lot on Diamond Head—you might not take a second look at today’s open-house pick. But it really is quite a hidden gem, which is why I chose it.
This new listing is on a private lane; there are only seven homes on Palaola Place, located on the ocean side of Diamond Head. It was built in 1952, but, as you’ll see in the photos, it’s been renovated throughout to preserve the classic architecture while accommodating contemporary standards.

The lot is 10,474 square feet and the multilevel home has 3,812 square feet of living area. Every living space opens to an expansive brick courtyard, which features a pool and views of the ocean.

There are three bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper level—all huge, all with ocean views—and a ground-level bedroom with a half bathroom that can be used as an office or den. (Click here to see the bedrooms and more details.)

There are hardwood floors throughout most of the home and both formal and casual living-room areas. The kitchen has a lot of counter and storage space, including the grill/bar island in the middle that makes cooking and eating at home convenient.

The home comes with deeded access to Diamond Head Beach just across the lane.
Since this has been on the market just two days, the first open house is this Sunday, May 17. Happy house hunting!
