Open House Pick: As seen on Hawaii Five-0

This weekend, as you head out to the open houses around town, make sure to stop by this gorgeous luxury home on Kahala Avenue, which was featured in the hit TV series Hawaii Five-0.

Even if you're not a fan of the show, it's worth a look. Built in late 2009 by Premier Properties, the award-winning designer J. Timothy Gutierrez has created a masterpiece in architectural design. At first glance, you wouldn't know that an Island oasis is hidden behind the sophisticated but unpretentious façade. One step through the doors and your eyes go straight past the foyer and living room out to the tropically landscaped courtyard, which has a dramatic wall of water cascading from the second-story pool of its recreation area.
This structure is one of my favorite parts of the house – it's a separate, two-story rec room with a kitchen, restrooms, flat-screen TVs, and enclosable pocket doors and windows. It's like a luxury duplex studio (if there were such a thing), a place that I could live in. The second floor opens out to the infinity pool, which creates a waterfall into the first-floor lap pool. I don't swim, but I could sit in front of it all day.
The main home is full of large spaces for entertaining, especially the two-station kitchen with three wine refrigerators, Sub-Zero Wolf appliances, and granite counters around the perimeter. It's no wonder that this home is often used for special events for various organizations.
This is probably a girl thing, but I was bowled over by the fact that every bedroom has a walk-in closet and its own bathroom. In the master bedroom, there are two closets: A cavernous one with an assortment of racks, drawers, and shelves, assumed for the woman of the house; and a smaller, unfussy one (naturally), for the man.
But don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself. Book ‘em, Danno!
Happy house hunting!
