One bedroom, two stories

This may be old news for people familiar with The Hausten building, but it was news to me when I went to look at apartment 303 and was fascinated by the unique layout of the building’s two-story units.

The living room and kitchen is downstairs; the bedroom and bath is upstairs. I think it’s kind of a neat way to separate the rooms and give it the feeling of a townhouse.

This one is completely remodeled with a new kitchen counter, plantation shutters, and a bright new bathroom. The owner did a nice job of creating a feeling of flow and more open space for the 615 square foot unit. On top of that, there’s almost no need for air conditioning or the ceiling fan, as a good breeze comes through the unit to keep it cool. Hawaii condo dwellers who have lived in a hot building (or just the “hot side”) know this is a big plus.

The maintenance fee is $500 a month, but this includes electricity, water, sewer, and basic cable. As far as maintenance fees go, that’s a pretty sweet deal.

Money talk: $310,000 fee simple
