Pumpkins, costumes and treats, oh my! Halloween may be at the end of the month, but the whole family can start celebrating now with these events happening throughout October.

Laser Light Show
Now through January 5, 2016
Sit back and watch laser lights dancing on the ceiling of Bishop Museum’s domed theater in rhythm with Halloween songs like “Frankenstein” and “Monster Mash.” A showing of “Legends of the Night Sky: Perseus and Andromeda” is included for those who attend the matinee show. It retells the story of the constellations with laser lights.

15th Annual Pumpkin Festival
October 10–11, 17–18 and 24–25
Spend a day at Aloun Farms picking the perfect pumpkin and other crops like corn and sunflowers. There’s lots more to do, including hopping aboard for a free hayride and perusing the Farmers market. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day and, if you get hungry, check out the local food vendors.

SPOOK-Tacular Third Friday Fun
Oct. 16
Third Fridays in Kaimukī are back on a quarterly basis. Bring the whole family to experience what the Kaimukī community has to offer. Peruse the different merchants while enjoying complimentary drinks and pupu. There will be Halloween activities and crafts for the keiki and the adults can enjoy exclusive in-store discounts from participating merchants.
Free, 5 to 8 p.m., various location in the Kaimukī neighborhood, hosted by Art Explorium.
Mall-o-Ween and Costume Contest at Windward Mall
Saturday, October 17
Keiki of all ages are invited for a fun-filled Halloween event at Windward Mall. Entertainment will be provided, which includes a magician performance, balloons and an arts and crafts section. And keiki who dress up can enter the costume contest that features a panel of local “celebrity” judges.

Who Goes There?
Sunday, October 18
Keiki are encouraged to come dressed up to this fun pre-Halloween event. There will be different art activity stations such as creating a clay pumpkin with dry clay, painting a pumpkin to take home and decorating a mask to wear. Plus, those 17 years old and younger can enter a drawing contest, which is used in the following month’s event brochure and also gets posted on the museum’s website.

Gunstock Fall Fun Day
Saturday, October 24
Spend a day on the ranch, where keiki can dress up in their costume and go for a pony ride and hayride. The fun also includes a petting zoo, a photo booth, pumpkin chucking and a costume contest with prizes. The whole family can participate in lawn games, and there will also be food booths onsite. Just remember to pack a mat and wear closed-toe shoes, since the ground is uneven and rocky.
$10 for children (includes a pony ride, petting zoo and hayride), $5 adults (includes petting zoo and hayride), free for children 2 and younger, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Gunstock Ranch, 56-250 Kamehameha Highway, Lā‘ie,293-2026, gunstockranch.com.
Halloween Spook-Tacular
Saturday, October 24
Keiki 12 and younger are welcome to attend Hawai‘i Kai Towne Center’s Halloween Spook-Tacular event. This year will feature pirate-themed rides. Keiki should come dressed up for a chance to win the costume contest at 6 p.m. in the Marina Courtyard. Keiki can trick-or-treat at participating stores, select a free pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, get their photo taken with a pirate-themed backdrop and enjoy activities and games throughout the evening.
Rides are free when you bring in canned goods or make cash donation to the Salvation Army, 5 to 8 p.m., Hawai‘i Kai Towne Center, 333 Keāhole St., 396-0766, hawaiikaitownecenter.com.
Zombie Survival Event
Saturday, October 24
Have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse? This all-ages event, which focuses on healthy parkour movements, will allow participants to make their way past the zombies through safely executed runs, jumps, climbs, vaults and shooting nerf. Different zones will have different difficulty levels. Plus there will be other obstacles, nerf gun zombie battles and a zombie maze.
$15 for participants, $2 for spectators, 7 to 9 p.m., Precision Parkour at Crossfit O‘ahu, 556 Reed Lane, 398-9045, precisionparkour.com.
