The Consolidated Ward Theatre will screen five classic black-and-white Alfred Hitchcock movies. The Master of Suspense was known for making cameo appearances in many of his films, so keep your eyes peeled for Hitchcock in The Birds, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo and Rear Window.

Here’s a Halloween costume party with a strict dress code (no denim, T-shirts, sneakers or slippers allowed). There’ll be food, fireworks and fashion. Miss Chinatown queens and courts will model for a “spooky high-fashion raised runway fashion show.” A portion of the event proceeds will go to the Miss Chinatown program.

If you’re looking for huge crowds, but you hate Waikīkī, Hallowballoo is the place to be. Expect about 15,000 costumed party-goers to pack the streets of the Chinatown Arts District. This music and arts festival is free, but a $10 wristband will give you access to nine different clubs. This year, bounce to music from New Orleans musician Big Freedia, instrumentalist David Lindley and Nigerian-American soul musician Iyeoka.

Hallowbaloo ‘Marathon’

Throw on your costume and running shoes for a fun run for the arts to raise money for Hawai‘i’s nonprofit arts organizations. There’ll be masqueraders and entertainers to cheer you on while you’re running four to eight laps around the block of the Chinatown Arts District. Win prizes for the best group costume or best-dressed dog and dog owner. The most spirited fundraiser and runner will win the grand prize: A roundtrip airfare for two to Kaua‘i and a three night stay at the Aqua Kaua‘i Beach Resort. Start practicing those laps!

If you’re already in Chinatown, then head over to Arts at Mark’s Garage for their Halloween-themed fundraiser. You’ll have four nights to catch a screening of the cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. On Halloween night, bounce to underground electronic dance music at the Halloween dance party. For Dia de Los Muertos on Nov. 1, there’ll be a Mariachi band, Mexican bingo and cocktails.
