Set the All Hallows’ Eve mood by joining in Ward 16 Theater’s celebration of Alfred Hitchcock, master of suspense. Beginning this week with North by Northwest, the theater will screen one Hitchcock thriller each Thursday night. Psycho is on deck for October 10th. Halloween Film Fest

Consolidated Theatres is also having a Halloween series retrospective with late-night showings of the 1978 John Carpenter horror flick, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Meyers. Zombie Pub Crawl

Oct. 18

Meet up with your undead friends to rove throughout Chinatown, calling on the 10 participating bars for beers, music, and, of course, brains. If you want to look extra rotten, visit The Fix between 5 and 9 p.m. to have make-up artists apply your preferred level of decay (services range from $10 for the “freshly dead” to $50 for the “totally rotten”). Crazy, Sexy, GHOUL

The Slopes of Diamond Head HUI is throwing its annual fundraiser at Aloha Tower. Last year, more than 3,000 witches, superheroes, cheerleaders, cops, sexy cops, nurses, sexy nurses, pirates, and sexy pirates gathered to raise a glass to fun, as well as money for Make-A-Wish Hawaii. ARTafterDARK’s “Ghost Story”

Oct. 25

ARTafterDARK is signing-off until January with a Halloween event brimful with local talent. Lopaka Kapanui, author of The Legend of Morgan’s Corner and Other Ghost Stories of Hawaii , will provide the scares, with tales inspired by the museum’s artwork; meanwhile, scaredy cats can still enjoy sets by DJ Davey Shindig and electro-pop duo Alt/Air. Masquerade Ultra Black Party

If your idea of dressing up is adding a mask to your everyday attire, this is the Halloween party for you. The dress code: black on black. Hallowballoo

Stay hydrated and limber up, because Hallowballoo is an all-day commitment. From 5:30 until 10 p.m., the event takes the form of a hybrid block-and-costume party, with free live music performed on four stages scattered around the Chinatown Arts District and an impressive thousand dollar purse for the best costume. From 10 p.m. on, wrist-bands are required, as the street shows give way to Club Hallowballoo. Haunted Wonderland

EDM takes over the Blaisdell Arena. Ticket prices are steep at $55 plus Ticketmaster surcharges, but Wonderland Entertainment Group has raised the bar by bringing in Dirty Dutch architect DJ Chuckie, from Amsterdam via Ibiza. CHANCE’EM Halloween Party

CHANCE’EM is a lifestyle brand with a conscience. Founded on the North Shore, its proceeds go towards supporting community youth programs, like the Menehune Surf Contest and Wailua High School Surf Club. Halloween Party at The Republik

Oct. 26 and Nov. 1

Halloween is coming to The Republik not once but twice this year, with the British house trio Dirty Vegas visiting from South London on the 26th and Russian DJ Arty spinning on Nov. 1. Both shows are part of the Electric Palms Concert Series that’s grown out of the annual Electric Palms Festival (currently in its third year). Costumes are encouraged on both nights, and there are package deals for those of you not yet ready to retire your pirate swords and Miley Cyrus foam fingers. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Oct. 30 – Nov. 2

Still officially considered to be in “limited release” 38 years after it first premiered, this British musical-horror-comedy cult classic has the longest-running theatrical release ever. This Halloween, THE ARTS at Marks dusts it off, hoping to attract old fans and convert some new. Nightmare on Beachwalk Halloween Party

Halloween Beer Garden

The Royal Hawaiian Center will be dressed up as a beer garden this Halloween when the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii takes over to run their annual fundraiser. Haunted Mansion at M Nightclub

M Nightclub is teaming with Tantriq Entertainment to throw a costume block party on Restaurant Row. There's no cover to sip drinks at the patio bar, but it costs 20 bucks to go inside where M's house DJ, Jami, will be joined by G-Spot, Paul Brandon and DJ Betty. What's in it for you? The Day of the Dead Modern Experience Halloween Party

Waikiki will serve as both heaven and hell at The Modern's themed Halloween Party. The treat? Dead Dash ‘13

For dress-up diehards struggling to say goodbye, The Dawn of the Dead Dash provides one last excuse to bust out your face paint. This is not your typical 5K. All runners start the race as human beings (armed with glow necklaces to distinguish them from pedestrians). The goal isn’t just to complete the race, but to complete it without getting caught by the zombies that have been planted between “security checkpoints.” If a runner gets caught, he or she must surrender her glow necklace and join the horde of zombies intent on “infecting” the remaining runners.
