The Slopes of Diamond Head HUI is throwing its annual fundraiser at Aloha Tower. Last year, more than 3,000 witches, superheroes, cheerleaders, cops, sexy cops, nurses, sexy nurses, pirates, and sexy pirates gathered to raise a glass to fun, as well as money for Make-A-Wish Hawaii. Securing tickets to this event can be a little tricky. Email slopesofdiamondhead@gmail.com with how many tickets you need to start the process. No tickets will be sold at the door. Must be over 25.

ARTafterDARK’s “Ghost Story”

Oct. 25

ARTafterDARK is signing-off until January with a Halloween event brimful with local talent. Lopaka Kapanui, author of The Legend of Morgan’s Corner and Other Ghost Stories of Hawaii , will provide the scares, with tales inspired by the museum’s artwork; meanwhile, scaredy cats can still enjoy sets by DJ Davey Shindig and electro-pop duo Alt/Air. Halloween Party at The Republik

Oct. 26 and Nov. 1

Both shows are part of the Electric Palms Concert Series that’s grown out of the annual Electric Palms Festival (currently in its third year). Costumes are encouraged on both nights, and there are package deals for those of you not yet ready to retire your pirate swords and Miley Cyrus foam fingers. Full details for both shows, as well as information on where to buy tickets, at jointherepublik.com.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Oct. 30 – Nov. 2

Still officially considered to be in “limited release” 38 years after it first premiered, this British musical-horror-comedy cult classic has the longest-running theatrical release ever. This Halloween, THE ARTS at Marks dusts it off, hoping to attract old fans and convert some new. Movie-goers are encouraged to come in costume, and the team at Marks promises to make the event “very interactive.” Marks itself will also be in costume: a local teen art program will be decorating the space to evoke the Chinatown fire. $15, doors open at 10 p.m., show starts at 10:30, 1159 Nuuanu Ave., 521-2903, artsatmarks.com.

Costumes are not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. 21+ (children welcome accompanied by a parent), 922-2299, royalhawaiiancenter.com.

Oct. 31

Situate yourself in the middle of the Waikiki melee at the Hyatt Regency’s Halloween party. Expect two rooms of live music and a $1,000 costume contest at the newly renovated pool deck. Haunted Mansion at M Nightclub

Oct. 31

The chance to take home a $1,000 for the best costume. Still not tempted? Vacations Hawaii will be giving away a trip to Vegas. 21+, $20 ($15 in advance), 500 Ala Moana Blvd., mnlhnl.com.

The Day of the Dead Modern Experience Halloween Party

Oct. 31

Waikiki will serve as both heaven and hell at The Modern's themed Halloween Party. The treat? If you book in advance, $20 will get you access to The Study, The Modern's lobby bar, and Addiction Nightclub, where DJs Compose, ANIT, XL, Delve and others will spin. The trick? The price goes up to $40 on the day of the event. 21+, 1775 Ala Moana Blvd., info@addictionnightclub.com.

Dead Dash ‘13

Nov. 9

For dress-up diehards struggling to say goodbye, The Dawn of the Dead Dash provides one last excuse to bust out your face paint. This is not your typical 5K. All runners start the race as human beings (armed with glow necklaces to distinguish them from pedestrians). The goal isn’t just to complete the race, but to complete it without getting caught by the zombies that have been planted between “security checkpoints.” If a runner gets caught, he or she must surrender her glow necklace and join the horde of zombies intent on “infecting” the remaining runners. The race ends with an after-party in the Quarantine Safe Zone. $45 in advance or $50 on race day, dawnofthedeaddash.com.
