If you haven’t heard, Oceans 808 will be closing at the end of August—this time for good. The space will undergo a complete renovation and open as Tower 10, a new restaurant, lounge and nightclub all in one on October 29.
“Oceans 808 was sold in January [of this year] to a local business guy,” says Cydney Chu, formerly of Pearl, and now the new creative director for Tower 10. “Oceans 808 wasn’t viable as a business.” Chu says it had image problems with the revolving door of promoters. So, she was asked to come in, restructure operations, close Oceans 808 and re-open it as Tower 10.
“If Pearl and Mai Tai’s had a baby, it would be Tower 10,” says Chu. The theme is “modern Pacific,” and will feature a complete food menu, cocktails and a lounge environment with a stylish dress code and marketed to 25- to 40-year-olds.
For the month of August, Oceans 808 will be throwing some of its signature events from the past 15 years one last time. Here’s the lineup for the rest of the month:
The last Paddler’s Night – August 18
Piranha Room – August 27
Diamond Head Hui’s "Crazy, Sexy, 10" – August 30
