Newly renovated Waikiki condo

Every Friday evening, I sail on a friend's J/35 in the races sponsored by Hawaii Yacht Club. As I make my way down to the Ala Wai Harbor, I travel via Hobron Lane and always whizz past the many high-rise condos that line the street.
Yesterday, I was alerted to this completely remodeled, one-bedroom unit in one of those buildings – the Villa on Eaton Square.
Though the building was constructed in 1974, its amenities, including a rooftop deck, are well taken care of. On the rooftop, you'll find a barbecue area (each grill has its own sink), a sauna, an exercise room and a pool, plus 360-degree views from Diamond Head to downtown, and even Makaha. You should note while there are other similar-sized units for sale in the building at a lower price, it's because most of those are leasehold, not fee simple like this one.
This 681-square-foot condo has had renovations done from ceiling to floor, costing more than $50,000. The kitchen was enlarged and opened up with bar seating; granite counters and soft-close cabinets were installed.
During the remodel, the owners utilized wasted hollow space behind the walls, expanded closet space and installed closet systems, making it feel like a mini walk-in.
The bathroom was redone with a nod toward a spa – there's a walk-in glass shower, an attractive vessel sink and 18-inch porcelain tiles.
The living room and bedroom have bamboo laminate flooring. And my favorite, the popcorn ceilings were professionally removed leaving a smooth finish. (No matter how careful I am at home, I always seem to manage to knock off a few bits when I'm moving something.)
Check out this feature, ladies, there's a large shoe closet by the front door that can hold more than 20 pairs – no unsightly pile of shoes and slippers for guests to see.
To save space, there is an in-unit, two-in-one washer/dryer system.
The maintenance fee ($637 a month) includes the usual suspects, along with central A/C and electricity.
Fuzz factor: The property is pet-friendly. But you'll need to check specifics on how many or if there's a weight limit.
One covered stall is included in the price. No visitor parking is available, but your guests can park in a paid section of the same structure with a separate entrance. Plus there's plenty of metered parking out front.
If you want to see the condo for yourself, there's an open house on Sunday, July 8, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for details.
Money talk: $370,000 fee simple
