New Shop City

Cooler winter weather has finally moved in and brought a surprise swell – of new boutiques all around the islands. Wave hello to favorite labels, new and hard-to-find lines, and even bargains at these four new shops.

Guava Shop, Hale‘iwa
Beach-casual looks both affordable and organic share space at Guava with bags, footwear, beauty products and beach accessories. Owners and Kahuku High grads Liz Lerner and Kai Cost opened Guava two weeks ago and put Cost’s experience as an interior decorator to work – the space is a bright airy with lots of room to browse. The store also carries Cost’s hand-made jewelry line, Kaila. Hale‘iwa Town Center, 66-165 Kamehameha Hwy, 808.637.9670.

Olive Boutique, Kailua
Tucked on a side street, Olive’s clean and crisp white and dark wood space is a hidden gem off Kailua town’s main drag. Labels like Ella Moss and Free People fill the racks, saving Windward types a trip over the Pali for unique and of-the-moment looks. Opening tomorrow, the store also stocks accessories and paper goods. 43 Kihapai Street, 808.263.9919, www.iheartolive.com

Nini’s Boutique Exchange, Kaimuki
It’s like a year-round closet swap in this two-week old shop in Kaimuki, with only the choicest cast-offs from neighborhood closets. Handbags from Gucci and Chanel and clothes from Catharine Malandrino to J.Crew line the racks, all previously owned, but not necessarily used. Bring your stuff to sell and owner Nini Ma will pick out the pieces in the best condition – and you’ll keep 60 percent of the final selling price. 1154 Kokohead Avenue, 808.739.2500.

Letarte Swimwear, Paia
A new flagship opens tomorrow for the Maui-designed boho-luxe swimwear line that’s a favorite of celebs and Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition editors. Just like their suits, the Letarte shop is beachy and posh at the same time, with wood, coral and turquoise accents. There are also tunics and suits from the Petite Letarte line. 24 Baldwin Avenue, 808.579.6022, www.letarteswimwear.com
