Getting the word across is as simple as ever. You can text, IM, email—even shaka—instead of bothering with an actual conversation. Is it just us, or has communication lost its personal charm in lieu of a couple of keystrokes? Hashtag sad face.
News flash: Sweeten up how you say it with these new pieces from two local stationery companies. These precious new note-takers have just the right amount of artistic flourish and Island-inspired flair to help you really tell it write.
Take the latest from Kawaihae Card Company (left). Former visual merchandiser, designer Nancy Boticelli’s latest glam creations are nods to some of the Island’s most well-known neighborhoods. These clean, white greeting cards sport town names in an edgy, shimmering foil font in gold, copper or blue that artfully blends into an image of the Hawaiian archipelago. Talk about saying it all.
Stacey Nomura, the brain behind beautiful paper goods company Bradley and Lily, is going a softer route with her new collection of postcards (right)—and they’re totally your type. These four prints have a nostalgic, vintage feel, with a washed color palette and iconic images that nail the “local” feel down to the letter. Think chipper surfboards in bright colors spelling out “aloha,” the crown of a regal pineapple peeking out from under a retro typeface and a playful, stylized map of the state. And, if you’re looking for another way to get the message, you can find some of those new designs wrapped up into the adorable Bradley and Lily mini notebooks.
We think we just found your new calling (cards).
Kawaihae foil-print cards, $5, kawaihaecards.com. Bradley and Lily postcards, $1.25, and notebooks, $4, South Shore Paperie, 1016 Kapahulu Ave.
