New comic-based T-shirts by Black Book
Stay in Character

Stop right there.
We don't want to alarm you, but your weekend style is in grave danger of being a real snoozefest. It's time to call in the super team of Black Book.
Founders Thomas Hwang and Maaki Shiroyama joined forces with local artist and student Jenna Nakai to create stylish, cartoon-like characters that are screen printed onto T-shirts by Ryan Ohisa of Status Designs. After a successful debut at Kawaii Kon last month, their newest series is now available to the general public.
The lineup, which features adorable comic book-based bears, is bound to take any outfit by surprise. Skeptics will crumble at the sight of Iron Bear, Spider Bear and Panda Thor on soft, comfy cotton tees, available in both men's and fitted women's styles. Pair any shirt with a blazer and skinny jeans to avenge your off-duty wardrobe.
If you need reinforcements, Black Book's characters are also available as vinyl decals for a whimsical touch to any laptop or notebook. Our favorites: Alice meeting an upside-down Cheshire Cat, and a mustached bear in a slick two-button vest.
Get ready for some serious hero worship.
$25-$28 shirts, $6-$8 decals, available at Basique Threads, Ward Warehouse, (808) 597-1720, and online at BlackBookVenue.com. Photo and characters courtesy of Black Book.
