While our main meal was wonderful, it was the dessert menu at Spices that my friends and I were still buzzing about days after our latest dinner. Skipping all of the usual suspects, the tiny Southeast Asian-style restaurant went straight for the gusto with an adventurous selection of homemade sorbets and ice creams in flavors such as Chili Pepper Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime, Pineapple Basil, Okinawan Sweet Potato and Pandan. During a recent visit to the I AM. shop, I was stopped in my tracks by a shelf of Lava Roses (one of the store's in-house lines) leggings topped with outrageous, look-at-me prints that ranged from adorable robots and polka dotted skulls to bunnies in outer space. I'm a huge fan of director Wes Anderson's magical worlds and am thrilled to see that his latest flick Moonrise Kingdom has finally arrived in Hawaii. Better late then never right? Set on an island off New Engand, the story follows two 12-year-olds who fall in love in the summer of '65 and run away into the wilderness with a violent offshore storm on the way.
