Mono home and office goods store opens in McCully
Buy (Mo)no Means

It's Friday! In just a few hours, you can finally ditch the office and revel in the two glorious days that is your weekend.
Though maybe you wouldn't be so keen to leave work if your office didn't look so… lifeless. (Hey, even Milton Waddams knew the importance of a pop of color.)
And come Sunday, you will too, thanks to Mono, a new home and office goods store opening on King St. just steps away from the historic McCully Chop Sui sign. Inside, you'll find modern, design-centric accessories thoughtfully curated by owners Dean and Cassy Song.
On your left: Units Portable's utilitarian travel bags and leather passport holders, cracked concrete coasters by Kalki'd, colorblock-inducing scissor stands, clocks, and tape dispensers, and notebooks with three-dimensional turntable covers that can hold actual CDs.
On your right: sleek, portable mug-shaped and spherical speakers, laser-cut wooden keyboard and iPhone covers, and ceramic jewelry holders in the shapes of deer heads, hawks' feet, and unicorn skulls so beautifully sculpted, you might forget the actual jewelry and just admire it on your desk.
The inventory is stylish, yet surprisingly affordable with most items priced at less than $50. Plus, the couple only orders small quantities at a time, so you don't have to worry about copycat coworkers.
Or awkward conversations that begin with "I believe you have my unicorn skull."
Mono will be open Mondays through Saturdays, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., starting this Sunday, at 2013 S. King St. Metered street parking only. For more information, call (808) 955-1595 or visit MonoHawaii.com. Turntable notebook photo courtesy of Afterain Design Studio.
