We’re Obsessed with Momi Vintage’s Checkerboard Cutting Board
The Maui label merges the checkered and curvy home décor trends in one ultra-chic cutting board style.

Kahului photographer Nicole Spencer launched the label during the pandemic as a creative pivot when photo shoots slowed, first selling vintage homeware via Instagram and then delving into design once she saw the demand. “The online community was thriving,” says Spencer. She even decided on what type of product to create first for her line by polling her followers on what they wanted.

The cutting board’s swooping silhouette was inspired by Spencer’s love of natural, organic shapes. “I’m really drawn to that in interior design and architecture,” she says. And all are handmade in small batches to cut down on overproduction.
It’s so nice, I’m tempted to pop one on a shelf as a showpiece, but Spencer quickly dispels that idea. “Go ahead and cut on it, serve off it—it’s very durable. It’s designed to last a long time.”
