Massive Maunalani Heights home with amazing views

Since we were already driving around Maunalani Heights to browse at open houses, we stopped at one on a whim just off the main road and were overwhelmed at the incredible house we found. (Click here for details.)

It wasn’t just off the main road, its long driveway was off Kawelolani Pl. as well, leading to the side of the mountain. This is about as private as you can get in urban Honolulu.

The huge grassy area fronting the house looks like it would be great for parties, but the owner created it for guests to park. Indeed, there’s lots of room for entertaining on the rest of this 1.8-acre lot, so there’s no need to worry about space. (An acre is equivalent to a football field without the end zones.)

If you walk straight out to the pool area, the deck and grass area is, again, a really great place for entertaining. It’s adjacent to one of the home’s living rooms and has a spectacular view of the city. But step down, and there’s an even larger deck for the barbecue area that’s so huge, it’s big enough to practice your ballroom dancing moves…with, you guessed it, outrageous panoramic views of the city. It’s on the side of the mountain, after all.

Below the big deck is an entire exercise room with floor-to-ceiling windows. While it’s rare to have an exercise room in anyone’s home, it’s rare for many hotels (or some gyms) to have a cardio room this large. Maybe you can start a gym club for the neighbors?

The home itself is a massive, three-story concrete structure, with the master bedroom on the top floor with its own living area. The second floor is a maze connecting the remaining four bedrooms. This 7,334 square foot mansion is so huge, I had to take video to convey the layout of each floor. Click here to tour the home with me.

There’s also a separate, one-bedroom guest apartment somewhere else on this property, but we ran out of time and couldn’t check it out. I’m sure it doesn’t matter, though, given that the rest of the property was already so remarkable.
