Marine Debris: People Who Care About Hawaii
Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii (B.E.A.C.H.) is a volunteer-run non-profit organization that brings awareness and solutions to marine debris.
B.E.A.C.H does this through environmental education, marine-debris removal, research and plastic reduction campaigns throughout the Islands.
One of the organization’s efforts is to reduce plastic is recycling plastic caps and lids to help save sea birds. Shockingly, it was discovered that 100 percent of Laysan and black-footed albatross in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are feeding their chicks plastic.
B.E.A.C.H. facilitates plastic caps and lids recycling efforts through schools, businesses and organizations. Organizations can contact B.E.A.C.H. at 393-2168 if they would like to begin collecting plastic caps and lids for recycling.
