MAKE UP FOR EVER to offer free sessions at Sephora
Mix and Matte

Peanut butter and jelly. Batman and Robin. Birds and bees.
Some things just work better when they're together, and, believe it or not, that theory also applies to makeup. Lucky for us, MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Artist (and expert mix master) Lijha Stewart is in town conducting free makeup sessions at Sephora. So, we pumped her for her favorite combos – tips that she'll be more than happy to explain to you in person, if you schedule an appointment.
Just keep in mind, we're talking about makeup here.
Mix: Tinted primer + foundation
Enhance your new summer tan by blending a pump of dark primer with your favorite foundation, then applying the mixture to your skin using a dual fiber brush. If your complexion looks a little sallow, swirl in a mauve-colored primer to brighten it up.
Try: HD Microperfecting Primer, $34.
Mix: Foundation + concealer
Fake a flawless complexion that lasts all day long by adding a few pumps of foundation to a pea-sized amount of long-wearing, waterproof concealer. Apply it with a firm, flat foundation brush in thin layers to build natural-looking coverage.
Try: Full Cover Concealer, $32.
Mix: Sparkly powder + lipgloss
Create your own plump pout by blending loose glitter or shimmer powders in peach and gold undertones with lip gloss and layer it over your favorite lipstick.
Try: Diamond Powder, $25 right, and Star Powder, $20.
Mix: Blush + highlighter
For the ultimate red carpet glow, mix one pump of gel highlighter with a half pump of gel blush and swirl the mixture onto the apples of your cheeks and back toward the hairline using a fluffy dual fiber brush. Don't have a gel blush? Smooth on the highlighter first, then top with powder blush.
Try: Uplight Face Luminzer Gel, $29.
Mix: Cream shadow + powder shadow + Aqua Seal
We saved the trickiest for last. Create a fresh, lasting look for summer by applying a taupe or bronze cream shadow from your lashline to the crease and smudging the remainder under your bottom lash line. Then, mix a powder shadow in a fun, bright color, like teal, with a few drops of Aqua Seal and line the top, bottom, and inner rims of your eyes to make them pop. (Bonus: use this technique with grays and charcoals for a quick smoky eye!)
Try: Aqua Seal, $21.
