Who had the better coverage?
In our August issue, Tiffany Hill wrote about the rise of online-only news outlets in Honolulu:
With that article in mind, it was interesting see that Civil Beat co-sponsored last night's mayoral debate between former Gov. Ben Cayetano and Kirk Caldwell, along with KITV. (If you missed it, the debate can be seen at KITV's website.)
Not only did Civil Beat co-sponsor, it seems to have more engaged coverage of the debates, while our daily newspaper of record has a fairly perfunctory and dry blow-by-blow account.
And speaking of Honolulu's online-only media, the other outlet Hill covered, Hawaii Reporter, has another installment today of its investigation into Epic Talent, the Mainland outfit to which UH gave $200,000 in the Stevie Wonder concert debacle.
