Dr. Emilie Guinto Sumida is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a recognition given to those who have excelled in leadership, scholarly activity and community involvement.
Dr. Emilie Guinto Sumida received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Dental Medicine. She completed a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program with the United States Army, proudly serving in the military for six years as a general dentist before completing a post-graduate program in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland, School of Dental Medicine, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Emilie has previously worked in community health and has lectured through various organizations to promote oral health awareness and disease prevention. She has also volunteered her services to numerous local outreach programs. Her experience has taught her that prevention and education are vital for healthy smiles. A mother to three girls, she is passionate about keeping every child’s dental visit educational, positive and, most importantly, fun.
Dr. Emilie considers herself blessed to be working with the team at Children’s Dentistry of Maui. She is thankful for her hard-working and dedicated staff, who always provide excellent care for patients and their families.
