M. Pierre Pang

Over the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic has been arguably the biggest challenge to our healthcare systems. With the gradual decline of its dangerous effects in Hawaii, more people are less reluctant to leave their homes to seek medical care from their doctors. At the Pacific Eye Surgery Center, Dr. Pierre Pang now finds that he must play “catch-up medicine” for a backlog of patients whose diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and other eye issues worsened during the pandemic.

Although the state has relaxed or removed most of the COVID-19 restrictions, Dr. Pang’s office still abides by many of the CDC guidelines including masking at all times, maintaining transparent acrylic shields and barriers between patients and office staff and maintaining a modified distance between patients. He continues to avail himself to his patients 24/7 in person, by telemedicine, or when absent, from a covering colleague. Dr. Pang offers advanced eye care for cataracts including, but not limited to, implanting traditional monofocal lenses, multifocal and toric lenses to allow patients to see at many distances and treat astigmatism and presbyopia (difficulty with close-up reading). Additionally, he offers laser treatments and intraocular injections for potentially blinding disorders such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and glaucoma, and surgery for pterygiums. Recently, he has added dry-eye clinics in each of his two offices to care for patients who suffer from the burning, irritation and blurred vision attributed to this very common disorder.

Dr. Pang’s new town office is located at the St. Francis Medical Office Building at 2228 Liliha Street #102A, and he continues to see patients at his Waipahu office.
