Whenever game day rolls around, you and your guy always beef over what to eat.

He wants pizza, pretzels and potato chips—a calorie fest sure to sink your low-carb diet.

Instead of having a cow, snag a few bags of Chyler’s Hawaiian Beef Chips.

Thin and crispy, they have the same deliciously smoky flavor as traditional beef jerky. But instead of being tough and chewy, they have the oh-so-satisfying crunch of potato chips, so you get the same savory satisfaction minus all the refined starch.

Created by local couple Calsen Aiwohi and Autumn Butac, the chips were actually invented by mistake. In an effort to get their daughter to try different foods, they set out to make beef jerky and wound up with the chips instead. Friends and family quickly became addicted, and it wasn’t long before word got out and requests began pouring in.

Available in mild and peppered flavors, each batch takes three to four days to make. It starts off as beef jerky, which gets thinly sliced, soaked in a secret marinade and then dried to crispy perfection. Chips ’n dip, meat your match.

Chyler’s Hawaiian Beef Chips are available on O’ahu at Side Street Inn, online at www.chylerhbc.com and via phone order by calling 808.398.6360. Check them out at the New Food and Product Expo at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall on October 16 thru 18.
