Lei Chic's guide to the weekend's best events
Weekend Picks - November 14, 2013

Shop
One Rack Mind
What: Nordstom Rack's new store in Ward Village Shops officially opened its doors this morning. We spotted the same discounted name brand offerings as the old location, a larger men's selection downstairs and great beauty gift sets for holiday, though, sadly, not much in home goods. The 45,000-square-foot space also has fewer cash registers, opting for more merchandise and green-shirted employees to conduct mobile checkouts throughout the store (though you need to find one carrying the proper device). Other bonuses include on-site alterations and an iPhone app that notifies you when new styles arrive.
Where: 1170 Auahi St.

Wishful Thinking
What: Unique holiday gifts abound in Nordstrom's newest pop-up installation, 4U: Brite Lites_Gift City, from stocking stuffers to designer exclusives including Kidrobot toys (left), Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 cameras, Louis Ghost Chairs by Kartell and actual Fiats. The shop itself is decked in metal shelving, chain-link fences, colored fluorescent lights and acrylic mirrors. According to designer Rafael de Cárdenas, "This is what I'd like Santa's workshop to look like."
When: Tomorrow through January 3 with an opening party on Saturday, 2-5 p.m.
Where: Nordstrom, 2nd Floor
Also: Don't forget to register for Nordstrom's Beauty Trend Show to get fall and holiday tips from top experts at NARS, Smashbox, Chantecaille, SK-II and more this Saturday (full details here). Your $20 ticket is redeemable toward any cosmetics purchase of $20 or more on the day of the event. Plus, sign up for a free one-on-one consultation, grab an exclusive tote bag loaded with beauty samples, and take home a gorgeous black tray with a fragrance purchase of $125 or more.
