Korean War Veterans

This month marks 60 years since the beginning of the Korean War. Every Tuesday, the Korean War Veterans Association Hawaii Chapter 1 gathers for breakfast and companionship at Like Like Drive Inn. “It’s our therapy,” says the group’s president, Herb Schreiner (seen in the photo wearing the lei). “It’s our bonding.” Often called the “forgotten war,” the Korean War will be the subject of a multimedia exhibit, “Still Present Pasts,” at the Bishop Museum, starting June 25 and running until Sept. 26.
